Theme your Pregnancy Talking Circle
Learning through stories is the most powerful way of preparing for the birthing journey.
Do you want to provide meaningful connections to your pregnant clients?
Are you inspired to provide a safe space for mothers-to-be?
Are you a pregnancy yoga teacher or doula? A homebirth group host? (And not limited to these!)
If you’re a pregnancy yoga teacher running weekly classes, you might see how excited expectant mums are to share anxieties, learn from each others’ experiences, socialise and build a network for postnatal life. Are you ready to offer something new through a talking circle?
Or perhaps you’re a doula who tends to see pregnant clients and their birth partner privately. Do you want to bring your clients together to build community and mutual support?
Maybe you’re a homebirth group host and while you have lots of questions arise, would like to take the talking into deeper territory to address advocacy, agency and other foundational principles?
Next training date: 13th June 12.30-2.30 BST
Theme your Pregnancy Talking Circle
In this workshop, have time to explore the most productive themes for encouraging sharing. Often circle facilitators feel stuck about how to come up with a topic and introduce it to the group.
In this Theme your Pregnancy Talking Circle workshop, you will:
Explore five specific themes - how to introduce them, related open questions to encourage the flow of talking
Understand the process of creating your own themes and supporting material
Discuss how to deal with labour anxiety and birth trauma in a group
Reflect on the guidelines for sharing and checking in with new participants
Finishing the circle on a positive
Discuss the pros and cons of online vs in person pregnancy talking circles (both can work very well)
This is a standalone workshop, but works well alongside the Circle Fundamentals 3 hour workshop, which goes into detail about the key components of circle facilitation (welcoming, opening & settling, guidelines, managing group dynamics, integrating & closing).
