Learn to teach a Biomechanics for Birth

 Workshop for pregnancy yoga teachers

Are you frustrated with increasing levels of intervention in labour?

Do you want to empower your clients to make informed choices and feel confident advocation for themselves?

Next training: Fridays 9th and 16th May 12.30-3pm BST online

By the end of this training, you will:

  • Understand the unique role that pregnancy yoga teachers have in teaching biomechanics for birth - familiarity with the techniques from weekly pregnancy yoga classes, culminating in the Biomechanics for Birth workshop with birth partners, enables great results

  • Learn the key positions, movements and techniques that support pelvic balance, baby’s position and navigation through the pelvis, and protection of the perineum and prevention of tears, including Side-Lying Release, Forward Leaning Inversion and rebozo practices

  • Be able to confidently introduce the positions, movements and techniques within your pregnancy yoga classes, including using pair work

  • Be able to deliver a two-hour masterclass on Biomechanics for Birth to pregnant clients and their birth partners, either as a group or privately

  • Reflect on best practice for facilitating a workshop, from positive group dynamics to collecting feedback

  • Have detailed PDF handouts that you can share with clients detailing the key positions, movements and techniques

  • Understand the contraindications for the biomechanics techniques and be able to communicate the benefits

  • Explore how to market the workshop with clients and discuss what to charge

The cost of the training is £149.

As a guide, Tessa has a maximum of 8 couples in her workshops, with £69 per couple (ie earning potential per workshop is £552). After the training is complete, you have the option of being added to a WhatsApp group where you can ask questions.

The Biomechanics for Birth Workshop provides a great income stream where you can use your unique skills as a yoga teacher, sharing movement and breath practices that support labour physiology and clients’ nervous systems.

Many of Tessa’s clients also sign up to NCT and hypnobirthing courses, but see that the Masterclass provides missing information not usually taught on those courses, that is, if you find your clients already have booked antenatal classes this is not a barrier to them signing up for a workshop with you because trust is created through your weekly classes.

What previous trainees are saying…

"I was attracted to Tessa’s training as I was looking for something extra to be able to offer my pregnancy yoga clients.

Tessa is extremely knowledgeable and her friendly approach made this course a joy. It was also a fantastic opportunity to meet other pregnancy yoga teachers. Tessa delivered the training in the order in which the course would be delivered to clients, with additional time to ask questions and discuss the material.

She provided copies of the resources she uses, enabling us to start teaching the content straight away. Her ongoing support has been invaluable when I have had a question or just wanted to run something past her. The thing I particularly liked about the course is the flexibility. [It’s not a franchise where you must deliver it in a set way or no way!]”

- Jess Evans

“I attended this training with Tessa Venuti Sanderson last year and even as a midwife (and pregnancy yoga teacher) with extensive antenatal and birthing knowledge it really helped me process my thoughts of the current situation in maternity services and how to structure what info and resources to include into one workshop!!

I learnt some great nuggets of knowledge for advertising and online apps and resources! I feel so much better prepared to give my clients the resources they need to best navigate their birthing journey. Tessa generously shares her experience and resources so you are ready to teach your workshop by the end of the course!! I would highly recommend😊

- Rachel Fairweather

"I engage really well with Tessa’s teaching. The birth preparation workshop training is full of useful knowledge and information to help prepare pregnant students and their birth partners for the labour and birth.

Lots of gems to take away as well as business information and how to set out the workshop when you come to teach it yourself."

What couples say about the workshop…

"It gave me confidence to have a homebirth"

"Baby Hannah made her appearance on Monday morning. Contractions started at 6am, l stayed in bed for 45 minutes but then decided we should call the home birth midwife.

I had a warm bath with lavender oil but as the contraction increased decided to get out to have more space to move about. The midwifes arrived at 8.45 am and things progressed quickly from there and Hannah was born at 9.37am. 3.84kg.

Doing pregnancy yoga and the Masterclass really gave me the confidence to decide to have a home birth. My main takeaway was that being able to move and use the positions in labour can help labour progression and reduce the risk of interventions.

I would recommend the Masterclass because everyone should be aware of these techniques and be empowered to use them. I felt confident to take control of the situation and try various positions before intervention.

It was so nice to be able to stay together as a family, the midwifes left by lunchtime and we were able to be a family of four straight away.

Thank you Tessa for your practical advice and encouragement to choose what was right for me. You are very knowledgeable, kind and gentle, and always happy to answer questions."

- Rose Rodwell

“Thank you so much for Sunday's session. It was fantastic and really insightful. James also thought it was great, feels more prepared now and happy that he can support during my labour so we're very grateful.”
