Girls First Circles training & mentoring
Change to story not only for a girl, but her whole family in the past and future
Puberty is a confusing time. Many mothers want a different experience for their daughters than they had themselves. A circle space can provide a gentle environment for girls to learn about their bodies, self-care and plant the seed for how to create mutual support with other women in the future.
Would you like to run Girls Circles? A Pink Tent? Create special Mother & Daughter Time?
Join me for an online 6-week training to immerse yourself in how to create one-off or a series of circles for girls and their mothers (or other caregivers), full of crafts, movement and connection. As part of the course, you will revisit your own menarche (first period) and puberty experience, finishing with a menarche ceremony.
The school curriculum is not enough…
As of 11th July, a massive consultation on Relationship and Sex Education has just closed to submissions. The newest policy wanted to enforce strict age limitations on what could and couldn’t be shared at school.
At Girls First Circles, we take an age-appropriate approach, but also an individualised one. We emphasise the importance of talking to mums (or other caregivers) ahead of the events to know what a child is concerned about, how they are developing, and share the information in a gentle, spacious way.
As well as covering the changes that the body and mind go through during puberty, we look at the wider context, ensuring that self-care is put into place through the whole month; that body image and body sovereignty is explored; that choice and consent is modelled during the circles; that diverse experiences are shared so support normalisation of talking about sensitive topics….

“When you change how one girl navigates menarche and puberty, you heal the red thread forwards and backwards. Through circle time, it ripples out into her community likes spokes of a wheel, gaining momentum.”
